Facts about the genus Halichoerus, the gray seal
In addition, the Gray Seal is the primary host of the codworm (or sealworm), whose larvae invade fish, reducing the commercial value of the catch.
The genus Halichoerus is very close to the Phocid seals but was separated because they have simpler teeth.
