Facts about the family Thylacinidae, the Tasmanian wolf and thylacine
The family Thylacinidae is, however, generally considered to have descended from dasyurid stock.
The legs of the thylacine are not especially long in proportion to its body, and the animal likely stalked its prey in cat-like fashion rather than actively chasing it down as is typical of canids.
The molars of the thylacine are well adapted to slicing and crushing.
The thylacine is one of the most spectacular examples of parallel evolution to be found in mammals.
All these unique animals, such as the Tasmanian wolf, are taken for granted, but soon there arenÕt going to be any animals left to take for granted because their all going to be extinct.
