Facts about the genus Bunolagus, the riverine rabbits
Bunolagus is restricted to remnants of riverine scrub along river courses east of Calvinia and near Victoria West, an area which also provides the only soil suitable for stable burrows.
Riverine rabbits are mainly browsers (leaf-eaters).
Riverine rabbits are nocturnal and solitary, with a polygamous mating system and an unusually low breeding rate for a rabbit. (Full text)
