Facts about the genus Indri, the indri
Indri Indri are a bit more vocal (34k).
Lemurs are targeted in many places and although species like the indri are protected in most places by taboos, others are hunted on a regular basis.
The Indri is perhaps the largest extant lemur species (or perhaps Propithecus diadema diadema is, there is some debate).
We found a group soon enough (after less than 5 minutes walking), but the indri are tree dwellers, they do not come down to the ground (well rarely), and they are fairly high up too, it was difficult to get a good camera shot of them (one can see them fine, but the camera lens is more demanding).
