Facts about the Desmarest's spiny pocket mouse

Liomys salvini is brown and gray on the back and upper sides, and cream/white below, while Heteromys desmarestianus is gray on the back and sides, and white underneath but with black forelegs.

Heteromys desmarestianus is considered to occur throughout the wet Caribbean lowlands, as well as at middle and high elevations on the Caribbean and Pacific slopes of the country’s montane systems. (Full text)
